Andrew Slade
Born and raised on Vancouver Island, BC, pianist, arranger, and composer Andrew Slade is a new addition to Toronto’s vibrant jazz scene. Making his way to the GTA by way of Montreal, Andrew is a part of the University of Toronto’s newest crop of Master’s students. He spent his formative years studying classical piano, eventually attaining a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Victoria. After a period living in Mexico and studying jazz and composition, he fell in love with improvised music and found his passion. Andrew has studied with some of the top pianists on the west coast, including Hugh Fraser, Ross Taggart, Louise Rose, George Colligan, and many others. In demand as both a performer and clinician, Andrew has worked in a wide variety of situations, from symphonies, to big bands, to solo piano. He is currently involved in a number of projects with U of T and is very excited to be a part of the music in Toronto. |
